Definitely go ahead and share and like and all that stuff and on YouTube I think you both have to subscribe and press the bell bell right yeah. notified as well.

So yeah, so before we jump in the news, we had some breaking news today. He knew the Grand Rapids market everyone if I had a drumroll the Bob is reopening Ain't weren't weren't more wrong?

What is the Bob, you say the big old building, big old building.

So you've heard on this show many, many times that the Bob is just the, the bane of our existence. And it's really frustrating when people park in front of it and pickup and all that fun stuff. So they are reopening.

But the nightclub on the top is not real. No, they're

canceling the nightclub. And they're opening basically an event space.

So I mean, that was the biggest problem was the nightclub at night doing the pickups at two o'clock. Yeah, you know, so probably they're not gonna have that anymore. So well, they might. They might, but hopefully they'll learn. They'll have a bar there and everything. Well, yeah, but the other one to open that later.

So yeah, the Bob's reopening. I was hoping for some cooler stuff in there. Right. There was rumor of a casino.

What it was because there was rumor that the company behind gun lake would buy the building. Yeah,

they bought the naming rights in the Caribbean row. But yeah, they're trying to just buy everything, which, you know, whatever.

Well, we there's actually a lot of native money coming downtown Grand Rapids.

Well, that's good. That's good to hear. Yeah.

So it's really, I shouldn't say native. That's not the correct term. Native Americans know what is the right term?

I'm gonna let you be right. Yeah. I don't

want to ripcord. Um, yeah, yeah. Okay. So but it's all good to really Yes. The good people to work with and so it's really good.

Yeah, I hope there's not as many issues but I think you're right without having the nightclubs there and just having private event space. Yep. Which they're going to make way more money out less hassle. More money. So

I mean, it's it's a it's a Native American country company who just bought the Mackay tower to Sao Paulo today. Yep. Okay. So if I say your back, so they own they own the Mackay tower. And Neil part of the building next to it. So what are they going to do with the Mackay tower? Well, so they already took over. And they now right? Not a whole lot different than what they're doing today. But they know they're running the big event space on second floor, whatever that comes on. Yeah.

So that that whole building is already full of stuff. Oh, yeah. Oh, so they owners? Yeah, they just don't they just

own it? Yeah, I wouldn't say the first. I know, is it the first 15 floors? Something like that? That's business and then the top floor? Is our our event space? No, no, no. Like personal owned, I guess. Like condos? Yeah. Okay. I think the event is based on the first second or third floor. So I always

love those multiperson purpose buildings kind of cool. It is.

Did I did I ever mentioned to you what, what I learned that that building was called, like the top. Now. The top is so there's a little dome on the top of that building. It's called the nipple of Grand Avenue.

Full of great it doesn't change color. Oh, yeah.

They have a whole like doing pride. It has all the pride call. Okay. They do all the things.

Yeah. That's what that building is. That's so funny.

That's the dome on the top of Mackay tower. Yeah.

Interesting. And then real quick before we I can't believe maybe I did. Note, nevermind, I did actually include that in the story. So we'll get to that later. So first up, we're going to talk about this is kind of old news. But it got brought up recently on the Joe Rogan show. There was an Uber driver that defended himself. And there's some issues with that he's getting sued currently. So the Joe Rogan clip I pulled his about a minute 16 Just listen to how they talk about it. And then we'll actually play the news about it. Just a discussion about weapons in the car and those kinds of things. Okay.

You know about the the case in Austin, where a guy was not he was not charged for a long period of time, but it was at a one of the protests during the pandemic. And this guy apparently was military. And he was an Uber driver. He was Uber driving. Yeah. So he pulled down this road. I think he was following his GPS. And he pulled down his road and all of a sudden he's faced with the people that were blocking the road. Yeah. And this guy pulls an AK 47 out and points that out. And he shoots him. He's a veteran. I mean, he's he's used to being in you know, live combat situations. And he just pulls out his gun and shoots and shoots them. They get charged he did get charged to get convicted. I don't know. Let's find out what the status on that was because all my friends that are law enforcement or military were furious that he got charged because this guy literally pointed the gun at his face. Like he's standing there pointing the gun at you. What are you going to do? It's like how do you know if the guy's going to kill you or not like it's unreasonable to point a gun at a person in that scenario. You know what You know what that speaks to? Well, do you fucking Keishon

edge by the way first I'm gonna comment Johnny's put his lighting in there, you got a black guy in there and he's dark is shit in there like, right get that guy some light. So obviously that was just a pulled clip about Joe show about that. So it's interesting how much he gets wrong on the details. First of all, I can't believe it would be an AK 47 Because those are illegal. I mean, you can have them but I mean that you can't just that's actually a assault weapon that they are 15 That's like straight up like, you know, that's fully automatic, fully automatic. So that seems weird. So lots of news story. This one's a little long, but it's interesting to hear the story and it's actually kind of sad when you hear the person that he shot, but I understand why he did so we'll watch that real quick and talk about it.

Mike officials with APD issued a statement that the shooting of Saturday has generated a lot of questions that deserve answers and the answers according to the attorney for Daniel Perry, is that his client was trapped. He was facing a man with a rifle and he had to make a split second decision. This picture of Daniel Scott Perry released by his attorney shows him dressed in the formal uniform of the Army's first Calvary. A spokesperson at Fort Hood tells me Perry is a sergeant and he remains on active duty. Before the shots heard in this video, we're fired Saturday night Perry according to his Dallas attorney Clint broden was working a part time rideshare job. According to a statement from broden Perry had dropped his client off in the vicinity of Congress Avenue. He was then going to proceed to a hotspot in order to wait on notification to pick up another client or to pick up food for delivery. Sergeant Perry made a right onto Congress Avenue from Fourth Street and encountered a throng of people in the street. A memorial remains at the intersection of fourth and Congress where the competition took place. broden stated Perry did not know a demonstration was taking place there at the time. After he stopped. Protesters allegedly started beating on Perry's car broden states, a man carrying an assault rifle identified as Garrett Foster, an Air Force veteran approached the car and motion with his rifle for Perry to lower his window. According to broden, Sergeant Perry initially believed the person was associated with law enforcement and complied with the command. After rolling down the window, it became apparent to Sergeant Perry that the individual with the assault rifle was not law enforcement. Austin Police Chief Brian Manley During a briefing Sunday described what witnesses told detectives about that face off.

During the initial investigation of this incident appear it appears that Mr. Foster may have pointed his weapon at the driver of this vehicle prior to being shot.

broden offered this explanation as to why Perry had a gun, Sergeant Perry who carried a handgun in his car for his own protection while driving strangers and the rideshare program fired on the person to protect his own life. It's unclear which rideshare company Perry is with But Uber and Lyft both had policies against drivers having firearms while working. broden closed his statement by saying Perry and his family deeply sympathize with the loss and grief being experienced by Foster's family. But he also made it clear that the simple fact is that Sergeant parry reasonably perceived a threat to his life when, as has now been confirmed by independent witnesses. Mr. Foster raised his assault rifle towards Sergeant Perry, who was sitting in his car. So since his name was made public, there have been reports of several social media posts attributed to Perry where he condemns mob violence and urges individuals to protect themselves from that kind of violence. But since those reports were published, Perry's Facebook and Twitter, all right,

so the sad part of it that guy was a veteran, too, that was protesting that had the rifle. And I mean, I probably

would have done the same thing. Why did you have the rifle though? What

we will see this is a thing when you win, so I need to know, I guess it really doesn't matter. So but if you have a legal like ar 15 You can carry that and walk around downtown Grand Rapids.

I know but but you also know that when you're doing it, you are perceived a threat.

Exactly. Yeah, you can you can you can be a tough guy and walk around with people that don't have guns, but you encounter somebody like this guy that I mean, it probably started what you heard in the second video is that there was a lot of pushing on his car and so he's like, you know,

he's already have high adrenaline and he's stressed in the situation. Yeah, and he's a

veteran and he's been in battle before and so you point a gun at um, he's probably going to pull the trigger when that's

the thing and exactly, very likely. He has no reason to not say the truth. Exactly. No, there's there's no reason why Wait, I mean, he seems like a straight up, get a guy who has his shit together. And he's just protecting himself.

Yeah, no, unfortunately, of course, because Uber and Lyft don't allow you to protect yourself that there you're going to be deactivated. And this is a quite a bit of an older story. I mean, maybe two years

about being deactivated. This is about being prosecuted. Yeah, I

don't think he was charged. I looked at some news. He's being sued. Right. I know that by the family. It's just a bummer that the other guy was a veteran, too. It's just like, oh, my gosh, but

But see, he should have known better. He should have known better he, again, what happened was wrong. Yeah. I'm not saying he that the killing of him was righteous. I'm not saying any of that. Okay, in any kind of killing is always wrong. But he should have known better and he should not have had that gun.

No, and you shouldn't avoid it.

Don't ponder that. Yeah. And now

that is actually illegal. So if you have your AR 15, you can have it on your chest. But if you raise that up, right, even just like it's called brandishing, and that's against the law. So it's, it's pretty messed up. But you know, it's, I think I would have done the same thing.

But had you had a gun in your car? Yeah. But I

don't. Exactly, I would have just probably complied at that point.

So one thing I liked that they did say in the article, I know this is just me being you know, a little bit, but I liked that. They said that he was still active. Like, you know, he's still in the military. They have.

Well, he was I didn't so here's the weird part. He's active duty, and I didn't know what role but he's doing ride share. It's just like,

Yeah, but I mean, when when there's some roles, we still have time and why shouldn't he? It was it may not have been about the money for him. It just maybe it was just That's true. Maybe it was bored. Maybe he was bored. Maybe he just wanted to do something with it. Who knows? Yeah, maybe they were saving up for some extra money for some vacation and there's so many different reasonings for why you're doing this job. And one of the biggest reasons we like about it is it's so flexible, right? Yeah, you can do whatever the hell you want when you want

Yeah, and it's not like the military makes bank or anything even active duty I mean, you still

but what I liked was even after the shooting the military is still no you're fine, dude. Yeah.

It was justified. It's all about in that moment if you perceived a threat and obviously someone pointing a gun at your face is a threat

right? I don't know what I would have done I mean, but but here's the thing too is I don't have to training

right he Oh he's Yeah, he was just like gun and face don't on like that's it that's all it took and I don't know man like they say play stupid games win stupid prizes. You walking around downtown with a pistol and you brandish that someone's gonna do something like this. So right anyways, Matt says military pay sucks Yeah, and a great I mean they're not making bank I mean they get free room and board and stuff like that. But anyways, moving on.

Moving on. So now you have a confused tick tock or who keeps getting free food. You're gonna play the video? Yeah, I

don't know if I'll play the whole thing. No, that's okay. You can play part of it.

Alright. It was yeah, it's what sorry.

When you open up your door free food. Guys. I

need a hillbilly by the way.

I don't know whose DoorDash Is it because mine now got free breakfast. Right UberEATS was fake where the fuck it was

just went to the gym.

Somebody option for me right now. Okay, this morning it was steak and eggs and it was literally how I would have cooked the steak. I love Fucking snap he's big fucking muscles are my favorite fucking thing at sushi. What is happening? Whoever sending the free food can you space it out a little more fucking stuff. I literally couldn't eat all the goddamn office. Please give me a couple hours and send me more free food. I don't know

seriously, the books happening? Just knock at the

door. Check together shall we?

Is this all the same day?

You're kidding.

I got a burger from Red Robin. garlic fries, an extra garlic fries.

And a straw as every two hours right now seriously feel like this has to be some sort of joke being played on me. It's delicious.

Anyways, we'll end it there. You get the gist of it.

So So I am being pretty. What's what's the word suspicious? Oh, yeah, I think is a total setup. Really? Oh yeah. I

looked at some of the Other videos they weren't. They weren't prank videos.

Well, he needed content. He made some shifts story up and, and maybe I don't know. I feel like just says yeah, I always

like to believe that shit is true you know what I mean like that that it truly is what's happening. Mark says Can someone play a joke on me please? I don't know if I want it every two hours. Can we do it every two days? That would be perfect. You know it would save my grocery budget but I hate when you get suspicious yes because then my dream is

to cool video and shit. Like, now this I don't know nobody I know

with people trying to go viral. You're right. Sometimes you have to take a little look at that. But it's so

easy to create those those stories that potentially gonna blow up well, and you've seen them they wanted that one story with the guy who is like, giving away money all the time. And it's just a bullshit right? You think those are fake? Some of them are proven fake.

There's a couple of guys that got blue checkmark. checkmarks on there that I feel like someone was some of

them. Absolutely right. Somebody. Right. But there has been several of

those whales give me in the heart every time. I

know. I watch one tonight. Setups setups.

Ah, why would you do that though?

Just because they want to create a video to make it go viral so they can make it all feel good, right?

God? Yeah, I feel like if you're doing a video where maybe not the money one, but like if you are going to do a video and make it fake. You gotta be a good actor too, because you can usually sniff that out. But hey, Dustin, thanks for joining. Appreciate you. Alright, moving on to the second item of the most important Not really, but the IRS and I know it's old news. We podcasts every two weeks. So don't give me the old news sounder. The IRS has increased the mileage rate for the remainder of the year. It is going up to 62.5 cent, which is only what like a four or five cent increase. Oh, no, sorry. I

thought it was 54 No, it's 58 555. So it is only Okay. I've been out of the field for two years. So I guess Yeah,

no shit. Yes, sir.

Oh, I got happened since 2018.

Rates one one through. Okay. Yeah, yeah. I don't know when the last when the last updated. Oh, the last time Oh, no. They said the last time Iris made such an increase to 2011. But that must have been like a big one. Right? Not because it usually goes up or adjust every year depending on inflation.

It goes up. Yeah, based on inflation.

So it's not a ton. But if you drive a lot, it's going to be significant. Oh, absolutely. Yeah. Even if it's the last six months, you know,

I still think that the big I mean, there was one year where I made 20k. In I drove in 20,000. And I wanted 20,000

miles. No. 20,000 hours. Earned 20,000.

Well, that was like before the fees. Yeah. Your gross. Yeah. And so. But I think it was like eight or 9008 or 9000. Yeah, then right off. Right.

mileage? Yeah. Okay, so we know we don't do math in here. It's four cents if you drive 100 miles a day. That's an extra four bucks, right? Yep. Okay, so that I mean, I would do 100 miles a day. So if you're working six days a week, I mean, right? Shit adds up. So I heard someone bitching about it. Like, you guys can't ever be happy that give you something? I mean, what do you want him to give you a $6 a mile? I mean, pretty pleased. I mean, I would, but I'm not gonna like get on social media. I've seen people bitching about it. Also in the state of Michigan. Governor Whitmer is really pushing Biden to release the federal gas tax to for three months to try to relief at the pump too. So

it is pretty ridiculous right now. This I go back and forth on whether I drive 85 Or I kind of take turns driving 85 And then direct. Yesterday I was gonna get the 85 it was fucking only 50 cents cheaper than the regular stuff. It was 450 for unify right? And five no 499 for regular

thing when you're still getting bent over the pole or the barrel

but 85 is only it's only about 80% as potent as the other thing. Yeah. So it's not going to be worth it. But it's just

I mean use use that app. There used to be good upside it's just upside now yesterday I got gas I got 17 cents off a gallon there. Yeah, which ain't bad, but it's not always like that. You have to look wherever you are. But the shitty part of it is, is the pump turns off at $80 and so I'm only getting I'm not I'm close to filling up but I'm not even getting a full tank at 80. And

when does mine always get over? Over? 80? Oh, yeah, I got my

MBA dollars yesterday, every bank, or every gas station I go to it stops at 80. So maybe it's my bank that's doing that. Yeah, I don't know. But yeah, it shuts off at 80. So I can't use the get upside if even if I put the card in again, you can't use it for that, even though it only be like, two gallons. So it's not that much.

So how often do you go to gas on Costco?

I don't go to Costco. Okay, I'm Costco membership.

Costco is cheaper

gas it is I really need to reevaluate this fall in decide what I'm going to do for gas. Like if it's still five something a gallon, I'm gonna have to get a go to Costco. I know they offer a credit card that gives you like, four. I'm gonna I'm gonna have to maximize everything. The problem is though, if you only can go to Costco, so you can't get the you can't do the get upside. You can't use all these other things. So I don't know I gotta have to do something. I might have to even do get a little part time w two job. Because I mean, I don't know how y'all are doing out there full time at 550 a gallon or higher. It's just it's got to be

does use Gas Buddy. Or you can get on labor.

Yeah, you can do that. That's what I'm saying. Stuff like that. Where you're doing a good job, but you're not driving, driving, driving. Yeah, exactly. So

if you haven't heard of labor, that's an exciting new opportunity coming.

Yeah. Well, we will be talking about Well, we talked to them. You'll be hearing it soon. So, um, so they don't leave the house. Yeah, I mean, but I have to you gotta make money somehow. I mean, we all can't have an only fans mark. No, Mark. All right. The next thing we're just full of videos tonight. Did you watch this video before the show or not? Because this is yours? No, this is yours. It is to the No, we just did the IRS.

Oh, yes. I watched it. Yeah, I did watch it. Yep. Okay.

This is only a minute 33 and the videos actually gets shorter as we go on for the rest of the day. I did actually edit this one down a little bit. But do you want to describe it?

No, go ahead. Play it. It's the shock factor

I own that driveway. This driveway. Okay. I see somebody coming into the van doing this down the fucking driveway and pisses me off. Okay, I maintain that driveway. I maintain this fucking driveway. I see this fucking van dealer and again, there's gonna be hell to pay although you bring it shipped to my house. I'll deliver to your house but you got to be professional.

I'm lucky enough walking packages respect to fucking slopeside Don't fucking come in my driveway. Is your fucking truck bucket ribbon I'll be wearing a fucking property motherfucker if you don't want to miss out here

you should have driven over the grass Hey, I'm still here man.

Okay, so you may have not heard that all the way. But at one point, he called them a Mexican and a beaner and go back to Mexico or whatever.

Want a piece of shit? I'm sorry. But yeah, there's no reason to be.

There is a weird phenomenon with big trucks driving down the road. It seems like they're going faster. Like when you look at a garbage truck. Doesn't it look like it's just flying down the road? Sometimes? Sure. Yeah. But typically, it's the big trucks syndrome. Even with mine, I only have a one time I'll be doing 23 miles an hour. Now somebody put their arms up when I'm in a residential neighborhood. You know what I mean? It's just like,

so But I understand what you're saying. But so here's the thing. He says I own these driveways. I maintain this driver. I mean, what? What's it going to hurt that he's driving on the drive?

I think he thought he was going too fast. That was the issue. But it didn't seem like he was going fast. I cut off some of the the beginning video and he was just I mean, I don't know how fast he was going. But then the funny part is is like he didn't give the old the lady and they're both screaming at him and I know oh man. That guy was calm

man. i He's you Turn off the grass. Oh yeah, like

Done, done a 70 point turn like turning around like some of the Amazon drivers do

back off in the lawn.

Yeah, but I gotta give props to that driver. He hasn't. Even at the beginning. He's like, Hey, you got to stay professional. I'll stay professional. And then then that hits that guy off.

I know, because he didn't want to do that.

Update on the comments. Jason is my only soul only fan subscriber. Yep. And then Jamie Lynn, you can join Sam's Club for eight bucks right now. So that's pretty nice.

So we actually did join Costco again. I don't even know what that cost is.

I think it's 50. The main membership is 50. You can get one that's like 100. And then if you don't spend enough, they give you the discount of the extra that

you think you're getting it back. So you know, at the end of the year doesn't cost you anything. No,

it doesn't. Because it's just I don't know why they do that. I don't know if they know they're trying to get some cash flow in. In the end. They know chances are they're gonna get enough savings that we're not gonna have to pay this back. You know what I mean? But yeah, and I think that's one that one's 100. There's only a Sam's Club war on Alpine and then 2018 by the airport, right? I think so. Okay. Jamie says Costco bases. 60. So they may have gone up 10 bucks. Okay. But yeah, Costco was right on

Granville. Yeah, no, I we used that one down there. I don't, I don't particularly and this is just me and this. I don't particularly like like Sam's Club.

I'm not a huge fan of it either. It's just everyone has their their thing. I need to look up what Costco gas is right now. I'm just curious. Costco gas price. Granville.

We have taken a break here guys. Just one second waiting for gas update boss to get the gas price for Costco.

Dammit. There's no it's not. I can't find it. How can I know? He

says he's looking for gas. He's really actually looking at the his only fans account.

Dammit, I can't find it.

So yeah, I was actually thinking about he should Jason's to use gas, buddy. But But seriously, I mean, again, we brought the we bring this up all the time, right? The importance of having many different buckets. And this time right now it's definitely one such time when it's good to have other options that what some of those options are not used in your car all day long.

It's 493 a gallon.

And I bought I bought 499 at Meijer last month.

Okay, so yeah, I haven't seen anything under five. Reese in recent months. So. But that's the thing to me. 493 wouldn't be enough savings. If I can on upside save 15 cents a gallon, let's say well, you said 17 cents. Well, yeah, but yeah, but I've also done one cent sure. Yeah, I mean it I don't know where how their algorithm works. If they've sold like they must have like a special deal with each gas station. If they've used their amount, then it goes down. I don't freaking know. Yeah, but you know, 493 I mean, without like a rebate gas card. I'm not sure if I would sit in line.

So I always get three cents on shell.

Yeah, it's a nickel at the marathon, which most the upside app uses marathons. Okay, so you're already saving a nickel. So actually, I got 17 cents plus a nickel. So anyways, yeah, she said Sam's was 39 cents again. So that is a big savings. Yeah, yeah. But I mean, at some points, like, how long are you going to drive around and screw around? You gotta like land the plane and just frickin buy gas but anyways,

or, you know, get a get an electric vehicle. Don't get

me started. The joke going around now everyone's like, get an electric vehicle. But yeah, don't use your air conditioner because we're gonna have rolling brownouts. It's like

I was what are we doing here? It was so funny. She had this with us. Yeah, with with the people listening yesterday as I was I was pumping gas. A tow truck pulled up. Oh, so funny. A tow truck pulled up and dropped off a Tesla because that guest has a ton of Tesla charging station. So he obviously ran out.

Again, how do you do we trying to go on fumes there's no fumes on a battery like in a gas gas car. I have rolled in on fuel. Literally my thing said zero. Negative and I still made it. The Tesla's are like it is zero. You're done. It's dead.

But it was funny kind of pulls in and then you start backing up to the Tesla charging station.

Back it up. And that guy Gaspar 45. It's always cheaper in Holland.

But again, did you guys spend 25 minutes to drive?

He drives the GR though. Oh and he lives in Holland so that's beautiful. Anyways next up live plans to build a hybrid network of autonomous and driver vehicles co founder says With what money left with what money lists fleets will remain largely commandeered by drivers even as the company continues to develop its autonomous driving capabilities. It'll do 5% of the trips. Okay. 95% of the time, you're gonna rely on rideshare driver. So what's the even the freakin point then? Just because you feel good? I don't know.

Yeah, just gotta make them feel good. Now, yes,

it's stupid. But we're gonna cut that one out. That's what Matt said. I've seen people with gas generators in their trunk. I mean, there's got to be a market out there. I told the Espro last night about it. And he had said he had he knew a buddy that had a trailer that had

why wasn't a buddy it was a YouTuber, that built that build that a trailer into an additional battery. So like he's going cross country with it. Well, he basically he was able to get 300 additional miles out of a charge. Yeah, but but there was one he made himself so you couldn't supercharge that and that kind of stuff. So it's like, it wasn't that big of

a thing. And this is me and stupid. And I wish Megan was actually on tonight with with a hybrid. Why can't Tesla have like you know, a hybrid takes the energy from the brakes and puts it into the battery? Why can't Tesla have something in there that charges the battery? A little bit? Like I go idea?

I no idea. But I do know because I was asking last time I was in Denmark, and this may be everybody you don't know, you know, knows knows this. All of it. I was surprised to find that a Tesla in 20 minutes will be 80% 80%

that first that they are the 80 is quick. It's that last 20 that takes a while. But 20 minutes is nothing.

I know. That's great. Go get a cup of coffee in a hotdog.

Shed. You know, get on tick tock by the time you're done eating a hotdog taking the shit. You're fully charged or at

charge. Right. So yeah,

that's pretty cool. Okay, out of patents by Toyota Honda on that. Yeah, but I feel like the hybrid isn't something super complicated. Like, I don't know. I mean, why couldn't you just figure it out? Like it's Elon Musk? Like, what the hell? He probably doesn't want to

Well, so he has fun long time said that he's been working on on a new power cell. Okay, you know, which is supposedly new technology. Who knows? Yeah. But that's really the big thing. It's that we talked about that before. It's the ability to store the power that's still you know, difficult technology, if you will.

I mean, well, but yeah, but Toyota figured it out. I mean, they're storing in batteries. But

how much are they storing for how long? Well exactly.

That's yeah, once you get on the highway you know, you actually get better gas mileage on a hybrid when you're downtown going bumper to bumper sure lights than you do on the on the highway because you need more fuel on the highway. But I don't know it's way beyond my paygrade

we'll get there though. Yeah, you know, we'll get there where you know, a car will be able to drive cross country and let's Yeah, see,

that's the thing you hybrid, you could don't have to worry about it. I mean, you get five 600 miles to a tank, you know what I mean in a hybrid?

I mean the obviously the obvious benefit of the hybrid is it doesn't matter if the battery dies

exactly, but that's why I feel like if there's got to be a way for Elon to figure out how to regenerate charging back into the batteries whilst driving down the road but still not have a gas

but you may be but the the reason why the hybrid works is because the engine is on when it's charging the batteries right. Yes. And so the what I mean the gas engine part of it is Anwar

because no because when you let off the gas

Yeah, the engine I mean I always you know not

to but I assume when you let off the gas at a light that it kicks over to the hybrid mode and it's using the battery and then when you break it takes that energy and I assumed it went back to the battery but maybe it doesn't I have no idea oh god we need to get out of this. All right. Middleton technologies go to Middleton tech.com Our just click the link in our description we have driver utility helper which is for DoorDash Maximo, which is Uber Eats GrubHub Uber and Lyft. We just had a spammer Oh boy, I got rid of him.

Naked. HDX why I saw your face and I blocked them. Oh, did we delete Tinder? We have sex cheaper, cheaper than my wife. I doubt it. Oh, not that my wife is cheap. That came out wrong.

Megan is not here. That came out wrong. You didn't miss anything. Catherine. We still going?

Yeah, yeah, we're way behind. We just got to our second ad spot. Jamie's got a hybrid. She's got a hybrid. She got a Toyota rav4 hybrid, which that's where I'm looking at. If I can't get a prime, the prime is 50 miles of electric and then it switches over to a hybrid. So but they're also 50 grand to start. I mean that

that's that's the thing, right? It's like

yeah, but that is the thing, but it you know what? Let me I'm stuttering because I'm thrown off by Matt's comment. You're still gonna pay for for a hybrid. You're still gonna pay 45 grand? Oh, yeah. I mean, it's only five to seven grand more. So at that point over 40 What the fuck?

I cannot imagine paying 40 to 50,000 I know. Yeah, cool.

I've never it's just here. Here's a Here's a peek into my life. I've basically never put money down on a car other than like, if I'm trading it in. So can you imagine the payment on a $50,000? With no down payment?

You're looking at 1800? No, maybe not? Well,

like 600? Yeah, probably. Okay, we're doing math. No, I won't include

the interest depending on how many years?

Okay, yeah, fit. Let's do $50,000 divided by, let's do 72 months. That's six years. Right?

Right. 72 months yet? 694

with no interest. I know. So your six to 800 or seven to 800 bucks with like a two or 3%

a month. And that's actually difficult to get right now because they went up.

Oh, the interest rate? Yeah, they're trying to slow down spending, too. Yeah. Catherine says I'm in the market too. I'm actually not in the market. But my daughter is going to be 16 next December. Not this coming. But a year from now. And I it's probably better for me to give her my pilot and me getting that. I don't know. I've never ever bought a new car

getting the black car back. Oh, are you? Yeah. Nice. We're getting we're getting drivable from axles. Yeah, no, he's actually been doing really well. And he should have his license. I think we have it scheduled for August 18 is best for his level to cool.

Your next up. All right, Rob

pub. Pretty cool. The incident of wages, let me just load this. Thank you for getting back on here. So just like you know, a lot of the other apps have had for a long time, the ability to get the money right away. Now GrubHub is doing the same with a partnership with PayPal and visa. So that basically right away, you can get your get your money. I was reading the article. And I didn't know I didn't understand whether it meant like immediately as you drop off the thing, and you can get the money right away. I was just like one today. So that's, I guess it's a little bit up in the air. So I don't not have but it does say instant cash out. We had direct debit from something called Hyperwallet from PayPal and visa direct. And so this partnership has enabled GrubHub to give it to workers flexible access to earnings by allowing any driver to deposit earnings to an eligible bank account or Bank Debit Card or prepaid card. cashing out is one of the most important features to grow post drivers and we are constantly innovating to deliver the best possible experience sets somebody better try it. You know, it is it is becoming one of those things. And I think that's the scary part is is and we've talked about this before it with this instant payout. We're no longer talking about paycheck to paycheck on a weekly basis. We're talking I want to our Yeah, I mean, I mean

I like it if you're in a pinch sure that you can go out and bank six hours of work and be like shit, I can pay my cable bill, whatever. But yeah, it's hard to budget when you do that

it is and and actually I was just reading that. Michigan is now going to become the 14th state. I think were actually in high school. They're going to start to just start teaching basic budgeting, which I think is awesome. Yes, I was so excited about awesome. But it's just on the other side. It's also just it's dumbfounding to me that people have don't have these basic skills. Yeah. This is things that we worked with,

but I didn't grow up with it. Not my parents didn't Teach me shit about money.

And I don't know necessarily if my parents did, but it's like, I don't know. It's just dumbfounding to me. All right, I think it's exciting that it's coming. Yeah, finally,

I think they're a little late. I was gonna say DoorDash does offer instant pay but I think you have to have their card, too. But I could be wrong. Don't quote me on

this one here is also using the direct debit from PayPal. So yeah, it's gotta have that card right

so Tom says Korea cashes out to lift debit then 5% cashback on gas that's nice. Jamie I want to go up to your comment average 3637 miles per hour no starter no alternator no brakes last 100k What is she talking about there? Okay, well her cars car has to have brakes. Oh the brakes last 100k Yeah. It doesn't have an alternator those hybrid zone alternators?

I'm not you know started. I know nothing about cars

were terrible. How am I gonna buy a freakin hybrid? I don't even drive. Yeah, I just don't I just don't want to pay $5 a gallon and guess Okay, another GrubHub story. More than two weeks after grub hubs free lunch fiasco, restaurants are still holding the proverbial bag. The food delivery company has not refunded some restaurants who are overwhelmed by the onslaught of orders and ultimately had to throw away meals that never got delivered or picked up or paid for many restaurants ate the food tab in those instances despite the fact that GrubHub said it would foot the bill for its May 17 promotion, offering $15 lunch between the hours of love and a to one chap throw or one company we lost about $4,000 on this promotion. We we were able to pump out orders in 45 to 70 minutes but I think the customers were never notified by the app that the order was ready. So this is complete bullshit. Oh yeah. Supposed to grab up until the post in the statement while the vast majority of restaurants saw an uptick of successful orders a major win for them. We are working to refund the restaurants that either had orders cancelled or unfulfilled. So

can you imagine $4,000 Yeah, that's losses. Yeah. Well, I

mean, I just I mean, it was a huge fiasco. Yeah. And the restaurants just didn't it's already busy for restaurant they don't have to deal with this shit but they should just keep writing grub up everyday just email where's my money? Where's my money and make them pay? So

So Tom had a con 2019 180 89,000 Miles same

breaks what off?

He doesn't actually ever use the brakes

well, he is in Chicago so that Nero must be in hybrid then

I have no idea again I don't know anything about 189k

On the same all right that oh my god getting in the year I mean, I go through breaks twice a year. I'm not gonna Nero I don't know what that is probably Nissan Kia. Maybe Kia.

Anyways, I don't know. So this is about free drinks. Finally we're getting some from noodles and company for being a good Dasher. I don't think good just says free

drinks. Yeah, I don't think you have to be topped Asher.

Stopping and fresh. Now feel free to access their restrooms anytime. And then you get free drinks. Enjoy a cold foundering on the house. And breathe in. Breathe out. Take a moment to relax when you need it. This is marketing at its best. So basically noodles and company will give you free drinks. I don't think there's going to notice and company everything when I'm teaching maybe waters one and Granville there is one agreement.

But here's my question for this. Do you have to have an order pickup for them? Or can you just stop in and grab a drink?

Doesn't say wow, again

I haven't I haven't opened my Dasher.

pickups. So maybe for those pickups those pasta pickups with a few pick me ups just for you. Somebody had fun writing this text,

although it says Find a location so I'm wondering. Yeah, I would need more detail. I'm trying to look through the Reddit posts.

It doesn't really matter.

I don't know. Anyways, I liked this shit. Like I love this stuff. Hybrid

Kia Nieto. Yeah, I

think I thought it was a Keo Keo, I took Nero and Kia and what Keiro

has been looking at key is

101k and selling factory brakes. Is that a hybrid? Tyler? So basically, I like when companies do this shit.

It's a nice car, Tom, is it? Just Google it? No.

I like when companies do that. Do you remember when subway when Uber had the subway deal where you got a cookie? And like I did that often? I know. And that was such a Yeah, okay. It's not more money, but at least it shows that the company is actually thinking about you and not just like taking you to know, Carmine. You're not at 101k and the factory breaks for f 154 Suck anyway. And Oh, I gotta take that back. I think Ford is great for work trucks is my I have a Ford one ton and that that thing's a beast so

no way you did 100,000 miles on the same brakes on the Florida for sure.

Anyways, he's probably gonna be like, you probably maybe he did I don't know maybe he's an excellent driver. Speaking of gasoline prices this says this is for SPARK High drivers as delivery experience delivery service providers, you may have been experiencing record high guy gas prices you think to help you meet rising costs, we've temporarily increase your earnings since March. I haven't driven since March of them as gas prices continue to rise or further increasing your earnings. So beginning this week, you'll be further increasing your earnings to better reflect retail gas costs, blah, blah, blah. So I don't know how much it went up. Like I said, I haven't driven for Spark since March, but at least it sounds like they're still continuing to help people. I mean,

obviously, it continues to be something that they feeling helpless, right? Yeah, they gas even though Lyft and Uber apparently doesn't give a shit anymore. No, so they stupid mid on.

So the Nero's got an Eevee, too.

I know. I like that. You know, I mean, I mean, it's talked to my wife about that. Because we all know, you know, controls everything in my life.

Yeah, but I mean, if you're driving it you should have a say in it. Yeah, kind of like that. It's kind of a little sporty thing. It's pointy thing. No, he says he just had a brake inspection. Oh my gosh, I drive like a dick. Sounds like I was gonna spit

out hate to me too.

So I have a question for you. I have an answer this special interview we did. Yeah, see that post yet? Fuck though

yes, for I have three that I have to edit. Like that's going to be me doing this this weekend. Okay,

so we have a really exciting interview coming up with with Matt from moves.

Yeah, we interviewed Matt for moves. I interviewed Aaron from DDI and I interviewed Preston Taylor Taylor from labor. So

so so really, lots of good opportunity and reasons to become a patreon right now. Yeah. Because you get all that you get all that content, you know, before everybody else, right. And I gotta say, I've been pretty impressed with all these three gentlemen, and they have some very cool things going. And I think you'll get a lot of value out of all of these all these interviews. We'd appreciate it. And just you know, help us out man. Of course,

because you love us you love sexy we are.

This next one here. This is just proves that, you know, the school system is broken and math is a hard one. So basically, do is pay base pay $7 tip for us to a total of 12 hours. This is awesome. I mean, obviously, some programmer I was having a rough day.

Well, it's funny. I thought this was pretty shocking. And then I talked to John and he says it happens all the time. I'm like, well, where's the extra dollar coming from? I mean, no one's complaining but it just seems weird that

I bet it has to do with me Hey, Janet, how you doing? I bet it has to do with rounding.

You think? Yeah, no, because bullshit. I get a lot of them that are even like that. But I've also gotten ones that were like $12.64. Yeah, I mean, I don't know, but it seems kind of weird.

But math is hard. We all know that. Yeah, for

sure. Okay, so this person, you may not be able to see it. You may have to blow it up on your phone, but she's at Little Caesars and she has two pizzas in a bag. But they're, what would you call them? Right side up. Technically, it's the wrong side up, but I mean, they're not flat. They're up and down.

What is that? Not the right way to hold

their vertical not horizontal. So yeah, they're up and down. That pizza is sliding currently off the frickin top of the crust. And it's going to be a bad one star review for that person. So

all the cheese is right now at the end of the

like if she's still waiting for other stuff, too. So Marx's vertical Yeah, I got it. I was struggling there.

A little bit a little bit.

Here's another video real quick.

How are we going fast now? Well,

I know that we're at an hour. Oh, just right. Well, rockin through these things

on the edge. You got to pay them.

You got to describe the video for people because especially there's no words on this one. Oh, I gotta take this part off though.

So this is an interesting video. That proves laziness. I would say probably not the correct way of doing delivery. Now

watch it. There's no sound Amazon driver comes up. puts it on a sidewalk about I don't know. 10 feet from that event.

Well, I made maybe. Yeah. 1010 10 small steps. Right. And then like

20 minutes later, it's

pouring. It's just boring. Right? And the box is very wet right now.

Yeah. So for the live stream. We'll we'll explain that. Basically, they were I forgot y'all can't hear me. That's one caveat. Or one drawback of this. They basically deliver the package to you saw well, you can see it on the live stream. I don't need to explain it. What a fucking idiot.

Dang, but he should have put it up on the

I know what you already walked from the road. I know. You know, I saw a FedEx guy yesterday when I was out in Byron Center and I was in a call the SEC. He's in a big box truck like a UPS size on he drove up these driveways in this big box truck to save like 10 feet and then had to back this big asset. I saw him do it in two, two houses in the cul de sac. I'm like, bro, what are you doing?

Like we had somebody to deliver at our house and they put it on that we have a back door with it. That's an entrance into the garage. And we never use that and it's actually further away than just using the entrance door or the front door you mean yeah the front door so we had somebody put the packets in there on the garage door. They didn't want to go up the steps was not like shorter.

And then this guy DoorDash God Yeah, so I got deactivated on the spot in the middle of a pickup poof. I call support and they actually said I did too many deliveries in an hour. I did eight. I got canned for doing too good of a job. Haha. Glad I don't need the money. By by DoorDash doubt I'll go back even if they begged me gas prices too high. I don't know. Do you? How

do you do eight an hour?

I don't know. That's it. I'm gonna say like, I don't even think that's possible.

Was it? Maybe they what they did is that they deactivated him because they didn't believe him.

Yeah, unless you had like, I could see if you went to Chipotle and had three and then all of a sudden I got an order for PanDa which is right across from me and Granville and got another three but still I don't think you could deliver you can pick

up eight maybe Yeah, but can't can't deliver them. That's true.

I mean, you could pick up eight but no way you're delivering in an hour.

That's the thing. Right? So it's like that's obviously you know, faulty or some right. Kia Nero.

Oh my gosh, you're still in the Niro. I'll just do this one real quick. DoorDash this lady was it costs more for delivery and tip than the food DoorDash customer shows 53 $53 Buffalo Wild Wings order sparking debate. I mean, what debate of course the delivery and the tip is going to cost more than the food. That's just how the business is. I mean, it's not a big deal. I mean, 53 I did watch the video. It was basically to 10 bone, the swings and some fries. And it was $53 with tip. Well, they may have tipped Well, I think they only tipped like 10 bucks. So it was like 43 but still 43 bucks. It is incredibly expensive. Oh yeah, to get delivery. I mean, it doesn't matter even if even if it's you're getting it from your local pizza place. I mean

but it's the convenience. Yeah, you're paying for that. And if you can afford it

fine. Here's the thing. A lot of times you get the delivery and the food is cold and shit like that. I don't know. It's just not worth it. Well, then

then it's brings up a good another point. How often do you do delivery like that get food delivered here at my

house? Pretty rare. I do. I will do like during when I'm doing gig work. And when I take my day off, I get Panda Express. And every Thursday, I decided to take Thursday off last winter, and I would get it delivered. But it's fine. It's quick, because they're not busy. It's at 1130 on a Thursday, so. But yeah, if you're trying to get it, I would never get it delivered on like six o'clock on a Friday or Saturday night. So

why don't you go in the

car yourself and just try that and get it? Yeah, exactly. That's what I do. Oh, so I'm saying I don't get it delivered. Oh, you get it. You just on Thursdays yourself. Yeah, on Thursdays I will get it delivered when in the winter, because I just don't want some meat. Yeah, it's fine. And it costs me a little extra. And I'm paying for the convenience, but it's hot. My point is I don't do it during the busy time. Yeah. So last quick video. This is from my friend Matt. He's actually used to be a gig worker. I thought this was kind of cool. Basically, it's a UPS box truck that has a little that is pulling a little trailer. So play that. Since when did UPS start having a trailer? I know that's the weirdest thing before you know. So I think what they're probably doing is going to an apartment complex. Or they're going to like downtown Grand Rapids by the big office buildings or shit like that.

Why exactly the places where they have the the maybe the UPS boxes?

Yeah, it just I've never seen that actually worked for UPS. That's definitely new in 2019. And they'd had nothing like that in there. Right. So and when I describe it for your audio listeners, it's like a It's not the big trailers that you see in the semis. It's basically it looks like the cab size of a regular UPS truck. So

Hey, John, thanks for joining.

press the like button or

Yeah, absolutely. So

yeah, join the patreon patreon.com. Search gig economy podcast. You have a five and a $10. Tear. Yeah, check it out.

So
